In my podcast, I interviewed a friend of mine, Dom Hale, who manages social media for a company. He is responsible for editing and posting videos to help the company grow its presence across various platforms. During the interview, Dom explains how his work contributes to the company's growth and success on different social media platforms, sharing insights into the strategies he uses to achieve these goals.

When Dom first started, the company had no social media presence, and the YouTube channel had only 2,000 subscribers. Through his work, the YouTube following grew to 12,000 subscribers, TikTok rose from 76 to 2,700 followers, and the newly created Instagram reached 800 followers. While the growth has been gradual, Dom emphasizes that building a brand on social media is a long-term process, requiring patience and continuous effort.

Dom innovates his own path in social media, as few individuals are doing what he is currently accomplishing. He has taken full control of the team's social media presence, a role he initiated by suggesting it to them. It is likely that the team is extremely grateful for his foresight and contributions.

Dom also discussed the significance of adapting strategies based on performance data. He noted that regularly reviewing metrics such as engagement rates, viewer retention, and click-through rates helps refine content and approach. “Data-driven decisions are crucial,” Dom explained. By assessing which types of content resonate with the audience, he can adjust strategies to enhance effectiveness. This iterative process of evaluating and adapting is key to maintaining growth and relevance in the ever-evolving social media landscape. Dom’s approach underscores the importance of flexibility and ongoing analysis in achieving long-term success on social media platforms.

For anyone looking to grow their personal brand, Dom advises knowing your niche inside and out. By studying other creators and experimenting with hooks that grab attention, aspiring social media influencers can increase engagement and stand out. Dom’s experience shows that success on social media requires creativity, patience, and an understanding of your target audience.

  1. In the realm of researching the market, I find that as a community of consumers in a specific niche, we gravitate to certain creators and formats they use when first posting content about that niche. I wonder how that affects other businesses in the same niche who are trying to push a new format. Would it lead to members of that community to look at the new format in a negative light due to biases they have toward the old and successful format, or even decrease the chances of it being seen due to the algorithm not picking it up?
